Anthony T. Woart
Anthony T. Woart, MA, MBA, Ph.D., is currently Professor and Chair, Department of Public Health. He is also founder and director of the Minority Health Institute at Marshall University. The institute through research and health promotion, addresses the burden of health disparities among the minority populations of West Virginia and the Appalachian region. As director of the Minority Health Institute, Dr. Woart has received grant awards totaling more than $1.5M in research and outreach projects supporting efforts to reduce the burden of health disparities among West Virginia’s minority subpopulations. He is a 2005 recipient of minority Access Inc.’s Role Model Faculty Research Award for Exemplary Achievements in Research Worthy of Emulation. He has served on several National Institutes of Health research review panels. He is currently a member of the West Virginia Martin Luther King Holiday Commission.
